2014 Ford Fusion to get 1.5L EcoBoost three-cylinder? [cardvd-player.net]

Barely a year after the launch of the new Fusion 2013, Ford is reported to change the sedan powertrain lineup with the addition of a new three-cylinder EcoBoost 1.5-liter turbo. A forum member Blue Oval has in his hands apparently expected that the tab order for the model year 2014 fusion, and the 1.5-liter mill is introduced for availability.
This aligns with other news about the Chinese-market Mondeo is offered with a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost – a derivative of the 1.0-liter triple will come to America under the hood of the Fiesta. In the application of China’s largest three-pot engine produces 177 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, which is very close to the amount of 178 hp and 184 lb-ft output current 1.6-liter four in online.
What is interesting, however, is that the 1.6-liter engine also reportedly be offered in the merger, but only with the six-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-liter EcoBoost smaller only mated to a SelectShift six-speed automatic, and start / stop. This means that, whereas 1.5 is slightly smaller than the energy compared to 1.6, it could easily improve fuel economy numbers, allowing fusion to recover the title having the best mileage in the segment, probably surpassing the 38 miles per gallon of Nissan Altima. Currently, the Fusion 1.6 is rated at 23 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.
Blue Oval Forums also states that the 2014 Fusion will have a number of other changes, including an optional heated steering wheel, cooled seats, summer tire option on some models, and a pair of new exterior colors.
A Ford spokesman could not be reached for comment at this time, but stay tuned for updates as they become available.
