Part of the festivities that include the Auto Show is an annual design challenge. The winner this year was the concept of auto-reply Subaru highway or SHARC processors. Automatic highway patrol had zero emissions.
The 2012 Challenge was glimpse the future of traffic police in the year 2025. The goal was to conceptualize a vehicle that would account for the needs of “dynamic urban environment.” In addition to the participation of the Subaru BMW, General Motors, Honda and Mercedes-Benz, all participated in the challenge.
SHARC PROCESSORS are essentially the right to implement Earth-drone. It is fully automated and runs on renewable energies. Subaru envision a future where the Hawaiian Islands are interconnected by a system of highways. An area so vast it would require significant human resources to patrol. The concept of an unattended patrol vehicle would eliminate the need for a large number of full-time staff.
Given the proliferation of UAVs and the development of autonomous vehicles, this notion of an automated patrol vehicle might be a reality in the coming years. For this vision of the future, Subaru was awarded as the winner of the 2012 Challenger Design.
