The 2014 Ford Fiesta is getting a more modern look inside and outside, but the big news is that to get the car under the hood. While not a surprise, Ford confirmed today that the party is the inclusion of two new EcoBoost engines: first three-cylinder Ford engine with a focus on efficiency and a 1.6-liter turbocharged four in the Fiesta ST will deliver better performance .
We had been promised a taste of the turbocharged 1.0-liter EcoBoost for a quick ride in a Ford Focus earlier this year, but Ford that this engine in the Fiesta will bring impressive fuel economy and refinement in the small car segment. With a cast iron block that also small and light enough to carry on the plane, the latest EcoBoost mill is designed to external noise, vibration and harshness characteristics to reduce as cranked crankshaft and balance. As much as we loved our recent Focus ST hot hatch comparison, the smaller Fiesta ST here to provide more little joy ride. Like the Focus, the ST is available only on the five-door, and get an instantly recognizable look, a sportier front apron with a lower spoiler, design an equally aggressive rear diffuser and outputs are duel exhaust, exclusive 17-inch wheels and a molten orange Exterior paint is available. For optimum operation of the systems ST suspension and steering have been improved, added Torque Vectoring Control electronic stability program, and a three-mode control allows the driver to decide how involved the car while driving. Preliminary figures for the Fiesta ST tout output 197 hp and 214 lb-ft torque and fuel economy rating of up Highway 34 miles per gallon.
