Nissan is flexing its social-media muscles for the new 370Z. It will offer fans a chance to submit and then vote on customization options for the new coupe.
“Car companies build project vehicles all the time, but we thought it’d be interesting to harness the power of social media to reach out to Z enthusiasts,” said Jon Brancheau, vice president of Nissan North America marketing.
Project 370Z will be built in stages—power, handling/brakes, interior and exterior. Fans can go to facebook.com/nissanperformance to comment on, like and post regarding anything they would like to see on a custom Z. Fans are asked to take part in every phase of the job, which will culminate at the ZDayZ event in May.
ZDayZ is one of several Z events scheduled across the country. It takes place May 17-20 in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, including the storied stretch of road known as the Tail of the Dragon.
The Project 370Z car will then be shown at other events this year, including ZCon 2012 and the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
