Red cars attract the most bird droppings [cardvd-player.net]

A whole new research has revealed the colour of this car could get more of the birds to relief on their own your car or truck. Yeah, It sounds slightly ludicrous but it is only a study that records the frequency of bird droppings depending on the colour on the car. We will see what this research has revealed.
United Kingdom online retailer, Halfords, has conducted a study on the previously discussed subject. The sample included 1,140 cars working in brighton, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and Bristol, although there is no indication for the count of each car colourise the group.
Bright red cars attract more bird droppings than vehicles of every other colour; green cars were found to suffer the very least, accompanied by silver, while white vehicles escaped more often than black.
Through the study, drivers were also asked how quick they removed droppings using their cars. Only 17 percent, one in six, said they wiped off deposits immediately when they saw them, 20 percent said they took action “in a day or two” while 55 percent waited before the next car wash. The remainder 8 % never washed their cars or left it to others to organise.
Along with being unsightly, insurance industry figures show bird droppings on vehicles can be an expensive problem and estimate the damage due to bird-poop-stained paintwork costs motorists £57m a year in unnecessary repairs.
Halfords car cleaning expert David Howells said: “These studies gives you a serious side as the problem annoys drivers, causes damaged paintwork and affects the additional value of vehicles. To defend your bodywork from damage, droppings really should be carefully cleaned off as soon as possible.”
Theories abound on motoring and websites that explains why birds are consumed by pooping on some cars a lot more than others. A Lexus driver reckoned newly polished cars suffer because birds see a reflection of themselves.
A Ford Focus owner agreed and said the darker the colour the deeper the reflection plus the more violent the response. An Alfa Romeo owner said hello depends in which you park plus a Mercedes driver said blue was the worst mainly because it reminded birds of water.
Others thought birds saw red like a danger or birds went for similar colours to their own personal plumage, for example in seaside resorts seagulls went for white cars, whilst in cities pigeons hope grey. The Halfords’ study found little difference between cities and the seaside from the colours that specific species of birds apparently target.
Researchers who compiled the effects found 18% of red cars were marked with droppings, blue 14%, black 11%, white 7%, grey/silver 3%, and green 1%.
Leading car polish experts Autoglym said destruction to vehicle paintwork arose not on the acid or alkali in bird droppings, but from paint lacquer softening and expanding in order to create an uneven mould across the dropping which produced a dull patch.
Grainier textures from seed eating birds produced probably the most blemishes, so pigeons are worse for motorists than seagulls. Autoglym says that bird dropping damage is only able to be prevented by owners detaching the poop as quickly as possible.
The British Trust for Ornithology was more circumspect around the role of colorize the “dropping zone” for birds. “We truly do know that birds can be fascinated by certain colours during display however it (droppings on cars) might be more related to the place you park; when you park where birds roosts, then you’re going to get more droppings on the vehicle,” said a spokesperson.
