Ignition Drives The Mercedes-Benz SL550 [www.cardvd-player.net]

Therein week’s episode of Ignition, on the Motor Trend YouTube channel, mean slide guitar player and pie enthusiast Carlos Lago takes the Mercedes-Benz SL550 out for any cloudy Sunday drive. The increasingly misnamed SL550 features a 4.6-liter V-8 engine with 429 horsepower and, count ‘em, two turbochargers—good for a 0-60 time in 4 seconds, while possessing sufficient chutzpah to impress Mr. Lago.
As Carlos indicates, the Mercedes-Benz “SL” should certainly symbolize “sport lightweight,” just like that only history nerds remember what GOP really means. But this new SL is in fact lighter than its predecessor, because of its aluminum construction that even allows so that it is longer and wider compared to the last model. The technical expertise continues through a variety of techno-gadgetry. A lot of it was helpful, such as launch control, which takes just two buttons to launch to 60 mph. Then there were the variable-rate steering, which Carlos seen to be tricky for the limit, especially when associated with the start of turbo boost.
Rather than to supply too much away, but spoiler alert: Carlos likes the Mercedes-Benz SL. “There’s just something unquestionably cool” concerning this, he admits that. Are you going to think a similar? Click through and pay attention to—and even though you’re at it, hit the subscribe button for your GT-R, the BRZ, plus the ZR1 that most receive a nice little shout-out.
